Town 2 St Panteleimon 3 (friendly)
In tough 30 degree-plus temperatures, Enfield started this pre-season friendly the stronger and, on 11 minutes, Charles Brown cut in from the right and netted with a low left footed drive between goalkeeper Donald Manaj’s and his near post.
Saints grew stronger as game progressed, and they deservedly equalised on 32 minutes with a fine volley from Hamza Semakula.
Half time: Enfield Town 1 St Panteleimon 1
Town rang the changes after the break with a raft of trialists. In the 54th minute, a poor back pass gave Demetrius Anastasiou the chance to net with a 1-1 with the goalkeeper and he duly slid the ball in at the far post.
Town reacted positively when an excellent diagonal ball was played over the Saints defence and a trialist controlled and shot home from 18 yards for a well-taken equaliser.
The game looked to be drifting towards a draw in the heat, but Saints continued to look the more dangerous of the two sides, and thet duly wrapped up a win when Bilal Aalouache found space inside the penalty area to beat Town’s trialist keeper.
The second half was purely an exercise to look at a number of trialists against a hard-working Saints team and, overall, despite the scoreline it was a good workout in the heat for the first on a number of scheduled friendlies throughout August.
Town (first half): Nathan McDonald, Sam Hatton, A Trilaist, A Trialist, Josh Urquhart, Ryan Blackman, Lewis Taaffe, Sam Youngs, A Trialist, A Trialist, Charles Brown.
In the second half, eight additional trialists appeared, plus Junior Mubiayi, and Josh Urquhart stayed on. Two further trialist substitutions were made around the hour mark.
