Enfield Borough and Lewes match tickets: public availability

The club recently confirmed that the home friendly against Enfield Borough on Tuesday 15th September (7.45pm) would take place as a Covid-19 precautions ‘pilot’ fixture open to a strictly limited number of spectators. Subject to the experience of staging this fixture, and taking account of lessons learned, it is hoped to ease spectator restrictions for the home Isthmian League Premier Division match against Lewes on Saturday 19th September (3pm).

For the Enfield Borough “pilot” friendly and the Lewes league match:

An initial tranche of tickets has been made available, for a limited period, to Enfield Town FC Supporters Society members. For the Lewes match, 2020-21 season ticket holders are being contacted separately about their specific arrangements. Match tickets are now available for both games via online general public sale at: https://shop.etfc.london/events

For Enfield Borough, entry is £5 for all, except that one accompanied (and supervised) child (under 16) can be admitted with a full ticket holder for £1. Although a “mixed” squad match, Andy Leese has confirmed that Charles Brown, Sam Hatton, Jon Muleba and Lewis Taaffe are likely to feature in this friendly fixture.

For Lewes, entry is £11 adults, £7 concessions (over 65’s and students under 21) and £1 children (under 16). In view of the need for the club to take full account of the experience of staging the Enfield Borough pilot game, there may need to be a freeze on Lewes ticket availability after a few days of initial sale. If this is the case, further announcements on ticketing will be made as soon as possible in the days leading up to the match.

Match ticket applicants will be issued with a digital (quick response code) e-ticket which can be swiped at the gate on a mobile phone or be printed out for entry. Please note that an invoice will also be forwarded; this is not your ticket. If there are any issues with e-ticket delivery, please check your spam folders before e-mailing webteam@etfc.london

The club have taken a number of comprehensive precautions to make the QEII Stadium safe, particularly with regard to social distancing. Nevertheless all spectators need to be fully aware that attendance at the match will be entirely at their own risk. You must follow government guidelines and self-diagnose before travelling to the QEII Stadium. If you, or any of your household, are experiencing any symptoms which may be related to Covid-19, you should not travel and you should follow NHS advice. At the Stadium you agree to respect others, abide with social distancing guidelines and measures that the club have put in place, and follow all advice given by ETFC stewards. This is particularly important as the club considers the possibility of increased numbers at future matches.

Please remember that the matchday experience at the QEII Stadium will not be as our supporters will remember!  Following queuing in a socially distanced manner, you will have your temperature taken up on entry, you should listen to and act upon all advice before, during and after the match from stewards, club officials and via any tannoy announcements, as the club looks to do the right thing, incrementally, with the safety of all in mind.

Matchday facilities

To ensure effective social distancing, seats that should not be used in either north or south stands (if either are open) will be clearly marked.  Standing will be possible behind both goals but, again, with a significantly reduced capacity – with yellow markers for indicative standing positions on the steps.  Around the perimeter of the pitch, there will be social distancing markers on fence panels for ease of standing two metres apart.

For the Enfield Borough match, Butler’s Bar, the club shop, and the usual external catering wagon will be closed. There will be no programmes, no golden goal and no 50:50 tickets.  These arrangements will be subject to review for subsequent matches in light of the experience of staging of the Enfield Borough game.  It is likely that e-programmes (but no hard copy for the time being at least) will be available for the Lewes match onwards.

Parts of the ground will be subject to one-way systems for additional safety. Toilets will be subject to one-in, one-out measures. Please come dressed for inclement weather as there will be strict adherence to maintaining social distancing under the limited cover at the ground.

Many thanks to all who have volunteered for stewarding and other roles on matchdays.

Should there be any changes to these arrangements they will be announced as soon as possible, as will any specific changes for the Lewes match in the light of the earlier pilot fixture.

Enfield Borough friendly arranged: 15th September

Following the recent precaution of cancelling the scheduled pre-season home friendlies against Chesham United and Welling United, the club have arranged a home friendly against Enfield Borough FC for Tuesday 15th September (7.45pm).  This match will be a wider Town squad fixture, with standard entry at £5 and U16s accompanying a standard ticketholder at £1. Society members will have the opportunity to apply for online tickets for a short period over the next day or so, before they go on general public sale (announcements to follow in due course).

This match will not involve the members of Town’s first team squad who are self-isolating following the emergence of a recent case of a positive Covid-19 test. It is likely, however, to include a number of other senior squad players supplemented by some promising Under 18s, as Andy Leese and his management team seek to make their final touches to the squad before our first competitive fixture against Lewes, again at the QEII Stadium, on 19th September.  Ticket arrangements for the Lewes match will also be announced shortly.

As mentioned at the recent virtual Society members’ meeting, the club have taken a number of comprehensive precautions to make the QEII Stadium safe, particularly with regard to social distancing.  In view of the tightening of social distancing measures announced by the government recently, Butler’s Bar will remain closed. All spectators need to be fully aware that attendance at the match will be entirely at their own risk. You must follow government guidelines and self-diagnose before travelling to the QEII Stadium. If you, or any of your household, are experiencing any symptoms which may be related to Covid-19, you should not travel and should follow NHS advice. At the Stadium you agree to respect others, abide with social distancing guidelines and measures that the club have put in place, and follow all advice given by ETFC stewards. This is very important as the club considers increasing numbers at future matches.

The Enfield Borough friendly will now serve as the club’s necessary Covid-19 precautions “pilot” fixture, and lessons from the experience will be taken fully on board for the Lewes league fixture the following Saturday.

CHESHAM AND WELLING GAMES OFF

CHESHAM AND WELLING GAMES OFF

Enfield Town FC have this morning taken the decision to postpone the forthcoming home friendly matches against Chesham United and Welling United on 8th and 12th September respectively following one of its players having been tested positive for Covid-19.

The club has taken this decision in line with its comprehensive risk assessments and with advice from the NHS and Public Health England.

Chesham and Welling ticket refunds will be available and the mechanics of this will be announced as soon as possible.

Floodlight appeal

The club are delighted to announce that the £11,830 raised by supporters during the recent Crowdfunding appeal has been contractually allocated towards a significant floodlight upgrading, a replacement drinks cooler system for the main clubhouse and it will also contribute healthily towards more general stadium maintenance over the coming months.

With the 2020-21 competitive campaign due to start later this month, this is timely good news following a period of activity-mothballing, balancing the books, and a good deal of recent work to ensure that the club is covid- precautions compliant on matchdays, with home friendlies against Chesham United and Welling United to come, followed by the first competitive match of the new season against Lewes on Saturday 19th September.  Many thanks are due to every single contributor – without whose help this work would never have got off the ground.

Speaking at a virtual meeting of Enfield Town Supporters Society members last night (3rd Septmber), Chairman Paul Reed said “It’s great news to be able to announce that, thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Town supporters via the recent Crowdfunding appeal and a subsequent tender exercise, CU Phosco Lighting Ltd will be carrying out the identified necessary floodlight work in the coming weeks, and by next month (October) supporters should see a noticeable difference in terms of a much improved lux level which is suitable both for Step 3 and higher in the non-league pyramid. One bulb will be added to each pylon, all existing bulbs will be cleaned, and these works will contribute towards a 20% uplift in the overall matchday experience, including clearer match videos.

“This accounts for approximately £9k of the generous donations received, with approximately £2k going towards the essential replacement of the Butler’s Bar draught drinks coolant system, and the remainder going towards essential ground maintenance such as painting, weeding and other refurbishments.  Many, many thanks to everyone who donated – we couldn’t have done any of this without you!”

FOUR MORE SIGN FOR TOWN

Manager Andy Leese has announced that four more players have signed Isthmian League forms as the squad jigsaw continues to come together for the new campaign:

Larry Asare (Forward) Larry returns to the club, having made a handful of appearances under Bradley Quinton, after experience at clubs including Redbridge and Woodford Town. Andy said “Larry has looked good in pre-season with his pace, and he can bring us something different in the way that we want to play”.

Charles Brown (Forward) Charles made 13 appearances last term, scoring once, and was on the scoresheet against St Panteleimon recently. Andy said “I’m pleased Charles has re-signed after taking a break from the game to sort out some personal issues. He’s looked sharp in training”.

Jeremiah Gyebi (Defender) 20 year-old Jeremiah has had experience with Yeovil Town, Poole Town, Ankaran Hrvatini (Slovenia) and IFK Mora (Sweden). Andy: “At over 6ft 4, Jerry will bring some presence to our back line and I’m delighted to get him on board as he continues his development after spells in Slovenia and Sweden”. Jerry’s registration is subject to international clearance.

Junior Mubiayi (Midfield) Junior is of course a familiar face to Town fans, having made a total of 51 appearances, scoring 4 goals in recent seasons. Andy: “it’s great that Junior has agreed to extend his stay with us. He has appeared in a number of different positions for the side and his versatility as a key utility player is a great asset for us as he is developing all the time.”

Further squad additions will be announced over the next week or so in the lead up to the competitive season which begins on 19th September against Lewes at the QEII Stadium.

Isthmian League new sponsor: ‘Pitching In’

ISTHMIAN LEAGUE NEW SPONSOR: ‘PITCHING IN’

The new sponsor of the, Isthmian League (as well as the Northern Premier and Southern Leagues) is Pitching In. For the period of the sponsorship the league will be known as the Pitching In Isthmian League.

Pitching In is a new Grassroots Sports Investment Programme that has today been launched by GVC, the multi-national sports-betting and gaming group which owns Ladbrokes and Coral.

The partnership covers the leagues that make up Steps 3 & 4 of the National Leagues System, who will market themselves collectively as the Trident Leagues.

England footballing legend Stuart Pearce, who played for Wealdstone for five years at the start of his long and illustrious career, has been appointed as official Pitching In ambassador.

Stuart said “I am delighted to be taking up the role of ambassador for Pitching In, as I’m passionate about the importance of investing in grassroots sports and in developing young talent. I started out playing for Wealdstone before joining Coventry City so I understand how important funding is to the non-league game. Grassroots football is facing huge challenges at the moment and many clubs are struggling to stay afloat. GVC’s Pitching In investment will help make a big difference to hundreds of clubs and thousands of players across the country.”

Pitching In has been set up with the objective of supporting, protecting and encouraging grassroots sports in the UK through a range of initiatives.

In addition to financial support, a key focus of the partnership will be to facilitate and encourage members of the community to become volunteers, and in the weeks ahead Pitching In and the Trident Leagues will be announcing further initiatives to provide financial support and opportunities for clubs.
